We are truly excited to be able to offer you a workshop from the incredible Patty Gray.  A true pioneer of fused glass techniques and an incredible instructor.  Bring your favorite glass with you and let her show you how to turn it into incredible art.  More details below calendar


The goal for this class is for you to learn skills that help you develop artistically We will be creating our projects in the following molds: 8”x10”, 10” round, 5”x 12 ½”, 4 ¼” x 10” 8” round and 6” x 6”. Most projects typically are at least 2 layers of glass and sometimes up to 4 depending on the technique. Some projects may get switched around and we may have the opportunity to try additional processes you are interested in. 

Day 1 – morning examples/demos (includes combing and vitrigraph creating murrini cane) and this will take most of the morning. 

Projects Day 1: 
  • Design and put together your rectangle 8” x 10” (glass size 7 7/8”x 9 7/8”, built in dam mold) 
  • Design and put together your round 10” diameter bowl/plate (glass size 10 ¼” round)
  • In the 6”x6” mold you will have the choice of making: 
  •           Pattern Bar Slab (glass size 5 7/8”x5 7/8” built in dam mold) 
  •           Jaws Pattern Bar (glass size 5 7/8”x5 7/8” built in dam mold) 
  •           Dichro – Black irid base, dichro and clear on top (glass size 5 7/8” x 5 7/8” built in dam mold 
  • Discussion/Questions/Clean-up (let’s plan on helping each day) 
Projects Day 2: 
  •  Individual Combings (5 ½”x 5 ½” made with ½” or 3/8” strips, no mold). We will wrap with 1/8”ceramic fiber around the strips and secure the strips of fiber to the base of 1/8” fiber (base fiber         is 7” square) with stainless steel sewing pins
  •  Mosaic made in the 8” round mold (glass size 7 7/8”) 
  •  Design and put together your 5” x 12 ½” (glass size 4 7/8” x 12 3/8”) 
  •  Design and put together your 4 ¼” x 10” (glass size 4 ¼” x 10”) Day 3-morning/afternoon 
  •  Discussion/Questions 
  •  Clean-up, it is always helpful for the help.

Projects Day 3:

  • Create Contour fuse piece in the 8” round mold (base glass 7 7/8”) Transparent glass strips will be ¼” wide strips
