Silkemat Basics With Rob Fleischner
In this class we will show you
many uses of Silkemat for casting, custom slump molds, and drop molds. The workshop fee includes 2 square feet of Silkemat and our rigidizer (you may want to buy more Silkemat and Rigidizer while you are here for your home projects if you like making molds this way). We’ll also discuss other uses of Silkemat
such as pot melts and vitrigraph. More details below.
You will learn how to make a variety of molds, but will make a rigidized slump (or drape) mold and a rigidized casting mold while gaining knowledge about the process and other possible uses. We’ll mix up dry rigidizer and apply it to the Silkemat (rigidizer is available in dry or wet form, so we’ll mix so you can decide if you’ll buy it dry or pre-mixed). The finished (though maybe not fully dry) molds you make are yours to take home and use. Along the way, you'll learn about the products and how to cut, form, and rigidize the Silkemat on your own.
