SW Art Glass is proud to bring you Joseph Cavalieri’s Bowls of Wonder workshop, designed for students ready to take their glass skills to the next level.
Learn fun and easy ways to add detailed images and patterns to your glass work. Joseph Cavalieri is excited to return for his fourth class, focusing on fusing and slumping bowls and plates with bold colorful images. Starting with cutting glass, you will learning silk screening, penning, painting, and airbrushing enamels onto glass. Joseph will bring a variety of exciting silk screens for you to use. No prior painting or drawing experience is needed; you will learn how to trace images to bring your piece to life.
Plan to make several final works during this four day workshop, plus many fired samples of all the techniques, plus information from Joseph’s popular marketing and art residency lectures.
These techniques apply to fused glass projects as well as stained glass projects.
Joseph will discuss and bring samples of how to easily use these techniques with stained glass, but the focus of the class is fusing, slumping, and having fun.
Joseph is an artist and educator working in glass. His painted, printed and air brushed stained glass techniques dates back to Medieval times but Joseph updates it by using modern day imagery. The glass work is kiln fired to a temperature of 1300 degrees Fahrenheit (700 Celsius), then soldered.
His art career began as a graphic designer and art director working for more than twenty years in the publishing industry in New York City, at People, GQ and Good Housekeeping magazines. In 2000 he began a career as an artist and educator working in glass. Joseph moved from Manhattan to France in November 2024.
Joseph's art can be found in the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Design, the Italian American Museum, the Leslie-Lohman Museum, and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
